NEWCASTLE HOSPITALS CHARITIES

In 2023 Northern Lights Newcastle partnered with the children and families at the Great North Children’s Hospital, and we are delighted to be partnering with them agin in 2024.

The Hospital is managed by the Newcastle Hospitals Charity whose goal is to support staff, patients and the wider community interacting with the hospital services, and to help fund a range of initiatives including cancer research, the development of innovative equipment and enable the refurbishment of hospital wards.

Our plans for 2024:

This year Northern Lights Newcastle is collaborating with Newcastle Hospitals Charity to commission artistic works from more than 50 children and young people currently undergoing treatment. If you would like to contribute towards this project you can donate £1, £3 or £5 when purchasing your tickets for Northern Lights Newcastle. We thank you in advance for your generosity.

We partnered with Northern Lights Newcastle last year and young patients were able to experience their light-projection designs, with their loved ones at the festival. We are looking forward to partnering again, to have young patient’s creative artwork included in such a significant event for the city.” – Katie Hickman, Arts Programme Manager, Newcastle Hospitals Charity

How have we supported the initiative?

We were delighted to work with 40 inspirational children and young people at the Children’s Ward to design one of our beautiful installations last year, Luminary Lane.

Each child got to design their own Gobo lantern which featured at the 2023 trail in our Gobo pathway. All of them were unique, having been inspired by the children’s experiences of Christmas magic.

We are returning in 2024 with a brand new project: watch this space!
