GETTING HERE

Northern Lights is at Leazes Park, situated in the centre of Newcastle-Upon-Tyne. Please enter the park from Barrack Road using the southern entrance, opposite Stanhope Street and The Black and White Bull pub.

Please note this is the opposite side of the park to the Royal Victoria Infirmary.

The closest dropoff locations to our entrance are listed below. The use of the below locations are subject to availability and at your own risk, as they are not within the footprint of the event. Please note these are locations for dropping off – for car parking, see our recommended locations below. 

Esso Garage (21 Barrack Rd, Newcastle upon Tyne NE4 6BA)

If you are dropped off at this location, use the pedestrian crossings to cross Barrack Road, then use the path entrance into the park, which is directly opposite the crossing. There is a gentle slope up towards the entrance to Northern Lights. 

Wellington Street (NE4 5TA) 

The closest residential street is Wellington Street, behind the Esso Garage. If you are dropped off on Wellington street, Barrack road can be accessed by turning right via the end of the street. Use the pedestrian crossings to cross Barrack Road, then use the path entrance into the park, which is directly opposite the crossing. There is a gentle slope up towards the entrance to Northern Lights. 

St James Park Stadium Car Park (Barrack Rd, Newcastle upon Tyne NE1 4SE)

Please note: we do not recommend using this dropoff point on match days. 

Visitors can be dropped off, subject to availability, inside the St James Car Park by travelling directly to the car park which is accessed via Robson Wy on Barrack Road, After being dropped off at this location, take a right out of the car park entrance onto Barrack Road and continue until you see the entrance to the park on the right.  There is a gentle slope up towards the entrance to Northern Lights. 

ENTRANCE


The main entrance to our event will be from Barrack Road, just opposite Stanhope Street and the Black and White Bull pub. Follow Barrack Road from St James Park, up the hill and it is the first entrance on your right into the park.

Don’t worry if you get lost – we will have plenty of signage and stewards to guide you.

WALK

We are just a 15 minute walk from the city centre. 

From Grey’s Monument follow Blackett Street, onto Gallowgate, and up the hill of Barrack Road, with St James Park on your right hand side. The entrance to the event is the first entrance to the park on your right. 

Please note that most routes from the heart of the city centre and train station are uphill, so please bear in mind the geordie geography when planning your route.

Please note that all car parks near to the event are downhill from us so you will need to walk uphill to get to our entrance.

TRAIN AND METRO

Newcastle Train station is just a 15 minute walk (0.7 miles) away from the event and has regular services across the country, as well as local trains. More information about train times and station facilities can be found here.

We are just a stone’s throw away from St James Park Metro Station! We are only a 7 minute walk from the station. Please bear in mind that the walk from the Metro is all uphill, so please factor in the geordie geography when planning your route!
