Northern Lights Newcastle is a new immersive light trail that will transform the grounds of Newcastle’s Leazes Park into an enchanted wonderland, suitable for all ages. It will include a breathtaking spectrum of illuminations including light and art installations, interactive elements and special effects including a spectacular fountain show!
We are delighted to announce that local residents are able to apply for 2 tickets per household for this magical event. Qualifying households will enter a ballot to receive tickets, with successful applicants notified in early November about how to book their tickets.
Areas which qualify for the resident’s ticket scheme are:

- Leazes Crescent
- Barrack Court
- St Thomas’ Terrace
- Wellington Street (between Stanhope Street and Pitt Street)
- Stanhope Street (between Diana Street and Stanhope Street)
- Pitt Street
- Diana Street (up to Abinger street)
- Ancrum Street
- Belle Grove Terrace
- Belle Grove West
- Oxnam Crescent
- Derby Street
- Richardson Road
How to book your resident tickets
October – Residents will receive a letter through the post explaining how to apply for the ticket ballot
27th October – Applications for the ballot will close on Friday 27th October and late applications will not be entered
W/c 6th Nov – Successful applicants will be emailed with details on how to book your slot!
Residents will shortly receive a letter explaining how to apply for tickets for Northern Lights Newcastle. Those wishing to claim their free tickets should email proof of home address (dated within the last 3 months e.g. a utility bill or bank statement) and photo ID (for example a driving licence or passport) to email@example.com with the heading “Residents’ Tickets”.
Once we have verified your details, you will be entered into a Resident’s Ballot. If successful, you will receive an email containing instructions about how to order your tickets online.
What is Northern Lights Newcastle and what are the timings?
The light trail located in Leazes Park will run from 23rd November 2023 to the 1st January 2024.
We are open most days (except 27th – 29th November and Christmas Day) between 16:00 – 22:00 (some dates may vary, please check our website for the most up to date information).
Can I access the park as normal?
Leazes Park can be accessed between 7am and 3pm as normal, during the full event period. After this time, access to the park will be restricted. Signs will be posted at entrances to the park to inform park users of the event dates, with details of any temporary changes to access that may affect them.
